About the Group

The Group was formed in January 1980 with the development of the Springfield housing estate. At that time the group consisted of a Cub Pack and Scout Troop. The Pack had ten boys and the Troop six. They met at a local School and for some eight years the Group Scout Leader also acted as the Scout Leader.

Launch of new badges
The Scout Association launched its largest ever revamp of the activity programme with the launch of 40 new and modernised badges. In order to reflect the changing demands and interests of today’s young people, these new badges include areas such as Health and Fitness, Healthy Eating, Street Sports and Parascending.

Scouts help Xmas shoppers
The scouts were out in force at Sainsbury's, North Springfield, helping xmas shoppers pack their bags. Thanks to the generous donation we raised £340 in support of the 'Essex FM Quid for a Kid appeal'
